A five-member delegation led by Honourable Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha has been participating in 41st Session of ICAO Assembly being held from 27th September to 7th October 2022 in ICAO Headquarters Montreal, Canada. The Nepali delegates held a meeting with the Secretary General of ICAO, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar and the ICAO Council President Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano on 28th September. The meeting included discussions between Nepal and ICAO on the progress made by Nepal in the areas of safety, security, air navigation and infrastructural development. The discussion also included the current air safety list of EU and Nepal's preparedness for its removal from the list. Nepal elaborated on the wide range of completed and ongoing aviation activities focused on the overall improvement in its safety oversight capabilities including some regulatory amendments aimed at further strengthening its safety performance.

The meeting also witnessed discussions between the two parties on the matters of mutual cooperation extended by ICAO and its Asia Pacific Regional Office. Hon. Minister Shrestha expressed his sincere gratitude to ICAO for its Technical Assistance and mutual collaboration.  During the meeting, ICAO reassured Nepal about the continuation of its technical support to Nepal for uplifting its safety status to greater heights. Nepal expressed its sincere commitment to continue endeavoring for betterment in the areas of safety, security and infrastructural development.

At the end of the meeting, Honorable Minister Mr. Shrestha extended cordial invitation to ICAO Secretary General and Council President to visit Nepal.
