A full-Scale Emergency Exercise was successfully conducted on 10th April 2022 at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) as provisioned by GBIA Airport Emergency Plan. All the stakeholders participated actively in the exercise along with experts and observers of the relevant field.

Major stakeholders involved in the exercise were:

  5. Armed Police Force
  6. Siddharthanagar Municipality
  7. City Fire
  8. Hospitals:

    • Siddharthanagar City Hospital
  9. Airlines:
    • Nepal Airlines
    • Himalayan Airlines
    • Buddha Air
    • Yeti Airlines
    • Shree Airlines
    • Saurya Airlines
    • Guna  Airlines
  10. Experts and Observers

This emergency exercise was conducted for the first time in the history of Gautam Buddha Airport. The peculiar feature of this exercise was that it was conducted in the nighttime for the first time in the history of Nepal.

The objective of this exercise was to identify gaps and weaknesses in documents, increase trust among air travelers, establish coordination and communication procedures, increase awareness among related stakeholders and establish an emergency system at GBIA.

It is believed to have various learning regarding response to the emergency to all of the relevant agencies involved in this exercise. The exercise was concluded with a debriefing on 11th April 2022.
