Biratnagar Airport was certified in April 12th , 2017 as per the provision of Aerodrome Certification Regulation 2004 of CAAN. Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Mr. Sanjiv Gautam awarded Aerodrome Certificate to Director of Biratnagar Civil Aviation Office Mr. Suresh Man Singh in a formal programme organized at Biratnagar Airport.

Chief District Officer of Morang, Mr. Yagna Raj Koirala and Deputy Director Generals of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Mr. Rajan Pokhrel and Mr. Narendra Bahadur Thapa were also present on the occasion. Mr. Sunil Bhattarai, Chief of Aerodrome Safety Standards Department enlightened the requirement of Aerodrome Certification as stated in CAAN, Aerodrome Certification Regulation, 2004.


Mr. Santosh Dhakal, Manager of Biratnagar Civil Aviation Office highlighted the aerodrome certification process of Biratnagar Airport. CAAN, Aerodrome Certification Regulation, 2004 requires public use Aerodrome operating of aircraft with 30 passenger seat or more are subject to aerodrome certification. Biratnagar Airport is the first Domestic airport to get Aerodrome Certificate in Nepal.
